Barcelona
The second largest city in Spain, and actually the capital of Catalonia and the country of Spain, is the wonderful Barcelona. It is also the most populated city in this country. It is situated on the best possible place as it is on the Northeast coast of the Iberian Peninsula, and in front of it is the Mediterranean Sea. The city is also a great economical center for Spain and the government of Catalonia is situated in its territory.The establishment of the city is the focus of two different myths. The first one is saying that the city was built in honor of Hercules. The other legend says that actually Barcelona was built by Hamilcar Barca.
Barcelona has an enormous number of attractions, in which is included a wonderful city centre that has kept its medieval architecture and look. Also there is a large amount of impressive and breathtaking contemporary architectures some of which are the buildings made by Spain's most imminent and world- wide famous architect - Gaudi. The city of Barcelona has a lot of museums that are visited by many of the tourists and the locals. Some of those museums are devoted to the great Picasso, there are others dedicated to Miró, to Barça, and there is even one museum that is entirely dedicated to the great world famous and legendary football club of Barcelona.
This European city is certainly one of the liveliest as there are people walking on its streets and hanging out in its bars, cafes and clubs both during the days and the nights. This is due to its marvelous and exceptional atmosphere that leaves the feel of total excitement and fun in the visitors of Barcelona, which feel will last for a lifetime.
Barcelona is also an important cultural center as it is the annual host of two key art festivals. The first one of those festivals is held during the summer and the other one takes its place in the beautiful autumn of Barcelona. Besides those major festivals of the art, during the whole year there are numerous concerts and shows of wide variety of kinds that enjoy the locals and the visitors to Barcelona.
The city of Barcelona has the luck to have pretty perfect Mediterranean climate and thus it is a great place for tourism during any time and season of the year. Another great thing that completes the charm of the city is the many parks and gardens. And of course we must not forget its many gorgeous and sandy beaches. With its many attractions and wonderful sights Barcelona is certainly a place worth to be seen.
