Budapest

Budapest, the Hungarian capital, has quickly pushed through the post-communist transition and turned into a lively, vibrant cultural centre. It is also the country's political, commercial and industrial centre. The city is in fact divided in two by the River Danube, on one side Buda and on the other Pest.

Budapest is widely believed to be one of the most beautiful cities. A few places from where you can catch a panoramic viewpoint include the Naphegy panoramic view, the Fisherman’s Bastion, Gellert Hill and the Danube promenade view.

Some of the famous attractions in Budapest range from Andrassy Avenue (which additionally includes the Hungarian State Opera House, the Pest Broadway and the House of Terror), Bauhas in Budapest, the Buda Castle, the City Park, the Danube Promenade. Some of the musues in Budapest include the Aquincum Museum and Roman Ruins, the Budapest History Museum, the Military History Museum, the Museum of Applied Arts, the Lajos kassak Memorial Museum, Ferenc Hopp Museum of East Asian Art, the Kiscell Museum and many others.

In addition, Budapest is famous for its thermal baths due to having various natural springs. Many of them possess various curing properties. Some of the most known baths include the sixteenth century Turkish baths, Szechenyl, the Gellert, the Lukacs Baths and the Rac Baths.

Under the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, many beautiful churches were erected such as the Inner City Franciscan Church, the Inner City Parish Church, the Inner City Calvinist Church, the Lutheran Church, the Matthias Church, Saint Stephen's Basilica and many others.

Budapest has always been internationally renown and has attracted the setting up of several international universities on its territory. It is a vibrant city with various events happening at the same time giving visitors and citizens a choice between the venues that dot Buda and Pest.
