Paris
Paris, the city of love, is cluttered with exquisite places and buildings to explore. Once the center of all art and social movements, now all that is reflected in the traces left behind by grand painters and intellectuals.The city only expanded at the end of the 19th century beyond its small streets into the Paris we know today with its 20 grand neighborhoods. The metropolitan lines provide connectivity to almost all areas. It is difficult to be the concise about the numerous possible places to visit but you can easily start your journey at the Place de la Bastille, one of the most historic districts.
Paris boasts monuments famous throughout the globe such as the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, the Napoleonic Arc de Triomphe. One easy way to tour Paris is to follow the 'historical axis', a line of monuments and buildings that in fact follow approximately a straight line. It begins with the Louvre, the Tuileries Gardens, the Champs-Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe.
Paris still continues to be a guardian of culture. The Monmartre and Montparnasse districts are famous for being home to many great artists as well as being dotted with small cafes, music halls and studios. In addition, Monmartre boats the magnificent Basilica du Sacre-Coeur.
Paris is home to numerous opera and concert halls such as Opera Garnier or Opera Bastille or theatre halls such as Bobino and Theatre Mogador. The city never sleeps with its discotheques, cafes and restaurants. The city is known for its grand hotels, cinemas, museums and various parks available for repose. While the Louvre is one of the more internationally renown museums, that should not dwarf others such as the Picasso Museum, Rodin Museum, the National Museum of Modern Art or the Montparnasse Museum.
The city of Paris is very much alive and constantly evolving mixing the its grand heritage with the new cultures that are being attracted to this French treasure. Many students are heading to the European capital's famous universities such as the Sorbonne.
