Nice

Although Nice is not one of the largest cities in France, it has become a major tourist center over the past decades. It is one of the leading resorts situated on the French Riviera. Nice is famous both for its nearby beaches as well as its Promenade des Anglais, a lovely boardwalk where one can enjoy the coolness of the night.

Being a sea city, Nice boasts many open spaces or squares where become often congregate whether it be for performances or just to enjoy the salty breeze. While the Place Massena is the main square of the city, there are several others such as Place Garibaldi, Place Rossetti, Cours Saleya and Place du Palais.

There are numerous cultural aspects from which Nice can be explored. Nice is considered to be one of the oldest human settlements on the globe and for that reason you will find many archeological sites. In addition, the city boasts many museums ranging from Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Natural History, Naval Museum, Matisse Museum, Chagall Museum and many others.

Nice also boasts several beautiful churches from the seventeenth century including Sainte-Reparate Cathedral and Saint-Jacques Church. There is also the Saint Nicolas Orthodox Cathedral.

Nice hosts many festivals through the year including the Carnaval de nice and the Nice Jazz festivals Lovers of good cuisine and aromatic wine will feel at home in Nice. The city uses the elementary food at its disposal such as olive oil, fruit and vegetables as well as local fish such as mullets, sea urchins and anchovies. Some of Nice’s specialities you might encounter are Ratatouille, Pichade, Soupe au pistou or Beignets de fleurs de courgettes. Nice has evolved to be more than just a tourist area, now containing nearly two million people.
